Ludlum Measurements, Inc. (LMI) is founded by Don Ludlum in Sweetwater, Texas, based out of the kitchen of his house. The company shortly thereafter opened a facility at 1219 East Broadway.
1975 - LMI Relocation
LMI relocated to the current facility at 501 Oak Street, Sweetwater, Texas.
1992 - ADIT
LMI acquired ADIT, a manufacturer of photomultiplier tubes based in Fairfield, Connecticut.
1995 - ADIT Relocation
ADIT relocated to the current facility at 300 Crane Street in Sweetwater, Texas.
1996 - Eljen Technology
Eljen Technology, a manufacturer of organic scintillator products, is founded at 2010 East Broadway in Sweetwater, Texas.
2000 - West Texas Molding
West Texas Molding, the plastic injection molding division, is founded in Sweetwater, Texas.
2003 - LMI Expansion
LMI opened expanded facilities at 501 Oak Street.
2007 - ET Enterprises, Ltd.
LMI acquired Electron Tubes, a manufacturer of photomultiplier tubes based in Ruislip, United Kingdom, and changed the name to ET Enterprises, Ltd. (ETEL).
2008 - ET Enterprises Relocation
ET Enterprises relocated to the current facility at 45 Riverside Way in Uxbridge, United Kingdom.
2010 - Eljen Technology Expansion
Eljen Technology opened expanded facilities at 1300 W Broadway in Sweetwater, Texas.
2010 - Ludlum Wind
LMI started Ludlum Wind, a product line that specializes in wind turbine components. The Ludlum Wind product line ended in 2022.
2011 - Protean Instrument
LMI acquired Protean Instrument, a manufacturer of ultra-high performance alpha-beta sample counting systems based in Lenoir City, Tennessee.
2012 - Protean Instrument Relocation
Protean Instrument relocated to the current facility at 10744 Dutchtown Road in Knoxville, Tennessee.
2012 - Plowden & Thompson / Tudor Crystal
LMI acquired Plowden & Thompson / Tudor Crystal, a manufacturer of glass and glass products based in Stourbridge, United Kingdom.
2018 - 2B Technologies
LMI acquired 2B Technologies, a designer and manufacturer of portable instruments for air monitoring, environmental and industrial applications based in Boulder, Colorado.
2020 - Ludlum GmbH
LMI acquired James Fisher Nuclear Hamburg, a designer and manufacturer of radiometric contamination and clearance measurement systems based in Hamburg, Germany. The company was rebranded as Ludlum GmbH.
2021 - Ludlum Systems
LMI formed Ludlum Systems to be the distributor and service provider for Ludlum GmbH products in the United Kingdom.
2023 - VPI Technology
LMI acquired VPI Technology, a company that designs, develops, prototypes, tests, and manufactures electronic products for various industries. VPI Technology is based in Draper, Utah.
