Training Courses

Instrument Calibration and Instrument Electronics courses will be offered at several locations. Course descriptions and enrollment procedures are shown. Instrument Calibration classes are offered at no charge. Instrument Electronics classes are $600 per student. The two-day class includes lunch each day.

This course is a basic course in Instrument Calibration  intended for Customers interested in performing their own calibrations and minor repairs. This course is generally not intended for First Responders or Survey Technicians because it does not deal with the Health Physics aspects of Radiation Surveying.

Outline 2.      Instrument Electronics 

Note: A background in Electronics is a Prerequisite for this class to be useful to the participant.  The student needs to understand the operation of an Oscilloscope and Digital Multimeter.

Detector Operation Electronics – GM, Scintillator, Gas Probe, Neutron, Ion Chamber, and PIN

Five Instrument Circuits – Theory of Operation and Troubleshooting

Ludlum Measurements, in association with Dade Moeller – an NV5 Company, has scheduled a NORM/TENORM Surveyor class for Wednesday, March 29th. The course will be held at the Ludlum Measurements training facility next to company headquarters in Sweetwater, Texas. The instructor will be one of Dade Moeller's senior-level Certified Health Physicists (CHP). Details of the syllabus for the 8-hour class are covered below.

NORM/TENORM Surveyor (8 hour)

•     Radiation Professionals and NORM/TENORM (30 minutes)

•     Radiation Fundamentals (1 hour)

•     Radiation Health Risks (30 minutes)

•     Principals of Radiation Protection (1 hour)

•     State NORM/TENORM Regulations (1 hour)

•     Radiation Instruments (1.5 hours)

•     Radiation Surveys (1.5 hours)

•     Waste Management (30 minutes)

•     Regulations, Guidance Documents, Summary, Exam (30 minutes)

Registration is limited, with a minimum enrollment number of seven students. The registration/payment of $500 must be paid on or before Friday, March 17th.
